UAE leaders have announced their top five priorities for the coming year. In a major event on Monday, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, presided over the first Cabinet meeting of 2023.

The five priorities Sheikh Mohammed outlined on Twitter included consolidating and establishing national identity; sustainable development and the environment; a vision, indicators, and outputs for the educational system should be developed; the acceleration of Emiratization; and partnering with international economic institutions to expand the UAE economy.

Sheikh Mohammed reviewed 2022’s outcomes in the context of the Cabinet meeting he presided over at Qasr Al Watan Abu Dhabi. A total of 339 development, economic, and social indicators placed the UAE among the top five in the world last year.

A total of 900 decisions have been approved by the Cabinet, 22 policies have been developed by the government, 68 federal laws have been passed, 113 national regulations have been adopted, and 71 international agreements have been ratified. The UAE government organized more than 120 teams last year with representatives from 110 federal, state, and local entities as well as 50 private sector organizations to update more than 100 federal laws related to social, economic, educational, and regulatory issues. As a result of these teams, the UAE government of today has become one of the most versatile and responsive in the world.

 

Priorities for UAE

 

He said the cabinet would continue to be the engine of policy and strategy development for achieving the vision of the president, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the aspirations of the UAE population. As they begin a new journey in 2023, they will race against time and compete against themselves to make their country the best in the world.

The emirate has always been in Sheikh Mohammed’s hands, even as he pushes it to new heights. It is impossible not to recognize his three-finger salute every time he passes on the road, and he will never go unnoticed by Emiratis and ex-pats alike.

Recently, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced D33, a plan to double Dubai’s economy over the next decade. A total of 100 transformational projects are included in Sheikh Mohammed’s economic agenda.

In Dubai’s bustling trading hub, the Dubai Traders Project (DT33) is empowering a new generation of traders. A prominent part of Agenda D33 is the launch of a project aimed at attracting the best universities from around the world, as part of broader efforts to establish Dubai as a world leader in higher education.

A second initiative will help 30 companies grow into global unicorns, resulting in the employment of 65,000 Emiratis and the integration into the private sector of 65,000 Emiratis. As part of Dubai Economic Corridors 2033, African, Latin American, and Southeast Asian foreign trade relations will be enhanced.
