Dubai To Build A Desert Eco-City Shaped Like A Flower

Saturday 10 September 2022

There’s now a plan for a desert eco-city shaped like a flower, which is undoubtedly going to be a huge undertaking. This exciting project was announced on the Facebook page of the Dubai Municipality.

As part of Desert Rose City, which will be run on renewable energy, schools, malls, clinics, hospitals, and villas for Emiratis in Dubai will be built. In keeping with the eco-friendly theme, it is planned to have 4,000 hectares of greenery encompassing 160,000 residents.

A few miles east of Academic City will be Desert Rose City. Two-thirds of the 30,000 residential properties in Desert Rose City worth AED30 billion will be occupied by Emiratis, while one-third of the residential properties in DRC be occupied by ex-pats.

Hussein Naseer Lootah, Dubai Municipality’s Director General, shared that this project embodied Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler Of Dubai’s vision. Hussein Naseer Lootah also believes that the project was in line with the country’s policy of following a completely sustainable approach to urbanization.

As a result of Dubai’s presence in the region, a low-carbon economy could be developed there, he said.

Apart from a police station, mosques, and other services, there will be green space, fewer traffic jams, and waste will be recycled automatically. A state-of-the-art environmental and natural resource preservation technology and technique will be used in the construction of this top sustainable community in Dubai.

Photovoltaic roofs on homes and other premises would generate about 200 megawatts of electricity, according to Dawood Al Hajiri, executive director of the municipality’s planning department.

Housing would occupy 75 percent of the city, he said.

Desert Eco City

In addition to being a residential area, it will include several sustainable housing properties and a city center that will be linked to the Dubai Metro by an electronic train track, director of the Planning Department at the Dubai Municipality, Dawood Al Hajiri explained.

As well as air-conditioned pedestrian walkways, the city will include a green belt for agriculture.

Over 14,000 hectares of land are expected to be used for the first phase, which will welcome 160,000 residents.

Providing transportation and communications, reducing energy consumption, and recycling wastewater, the floral-shaped eco-city in Dubai will provide more than 40,000 cubic meters of potable water every day.

Lights will be powered by renewable energy and solar power, while construction materials will provide maximum security and safety at a low price. Almost all the buildings in Desert Rose City will have solar panels on the roof. Clean electricity and renewable energy will be generated by solar panels covering 65,000 hectares.

In addition to producing 40,000 gallons of drinking water and 40% of its own electricity, the city is designed to use renewable energy to generate 40,000 gallons of water daily. A waste recycling facility and eco-friendly buildings in Desert Rose City will be located on the site. A reduction of 300,000 tonnes in carbon footprint is the ultimate goal.
