Wasl Tower

Always exciting to find out how construction is progressing on the iconic Wasl tower on Sheikh Zayed Road of Wasl Asset Management Group. Upon completion, of this twisting, the asymmetrical skyscraper will feature the region’s tallest ceramic facade and project an illusion of dynamic movement.

A total of 64 floors will house 229 residential units, 258 hotel rooms at Dubai’s second Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and 185,345 square feet of office space, along with 11 parking levels. With 1.8 million square feet of built-up area, the development will also include a helipad, adding another dimension of mobility.

Currently, structural works have been completed on 56 floors of Wasl tower, with façade works reaching level 13 while MEP works have reached level 52. The tower is directly connected to Burj Khalifa Metro Station which connects Downtown Dubai and City Walk, two of Dubai’s most prestigious districts. Aside from providing adequate shade from the summer heat, its innovative design will reduce air-conditioning consumption, thus contributing to adaptability and sustainability.

Wasl Tower

Dubai’s Wasl Development Group hired UNStudio to create a benchmark high-rise for the region and for Wasl Development Group itself that would be inspired by a new type of high-rise development.

The Wasl tower is designed with a Z axis and is made up of a classic contrapposto structure that can face virtually any direction. Due to its shading and cooling techniques, this building can adjust to local summer temperatures during Dubai’s hot season. Upon its completion in Q2 2024, the Wasl Tower will be a unique addition to Dubai’s skyline, featuring an innovative concept, sustainable practices, and quality ambiance. The tower, which has a direct view of the Burj Khalifa, will also connect Downtown Dubai and City Walk.

In the cooler winter months, Dubai is increasingly becoming a long-stay destination rather than a transfer hub. Infrastructure is also impressive in the city. Upon arrival by plane or car at night, it seems like an organism evolving in the dark desert, linking places, people, and cultures.
